"The focus is on this one Mum's grief'? Have you got the right film?
A bit rich Theland!
Lets also stop a film about some almighty God drowning all humankind...including babies, puppies, kittens, etc.

Family approval is doable, and should be sought.
Who is going to munch popcorn through this immoral outrage?

Put yours.ef in the shoes of the parents.
//Who is going to munch popcorn through this immoral outrage?//
I remember as a teenage Christian sitting through some film about noahs flood and everyone getting drowned while eating crisps and not getting outraged.
Weird eh?
Theland, does the film 'focus on one Mum's grief'? You haven't said where you got that bit from.
And if family don't approve what then?
No, I won't be signing.
And you would do well to actually find out exactly what this docu-drama is about and how it is presented before deciding that people with a different view from yours are 'heartless'.

Being vaguely from the same part of the world doesn't bestow any greater value on your 'outrage', Theland.
The film is a short and is the exact transcripts of the interviews with the 2 boys played out by actors. That's all. I said on the other thread that personally I think it's a sick way to make a name for oneself, from what I've heard this petition will stop it wining an Oscar anyway however I can also see the views of others who agree with free speech, whatever the subject.

Retired DCI Albert Kirby who was in charge of investigating this case agrees with me.
Lots of people agree with you and lots won’t.
Question Author
Jack - Outrage? Greater value? Come on, right is right and wrong is wrong, and peoples feelings count.
What is the relevance of that last point, Theland?
Question Author
Put yourself in the place of the parents. That will explain all, unless you have a heart of stone.
And there you go, again......

So by your reasoning, no books, films, tv programmes, etc can ever be written or made that are based on real-life events?
Theland,
The Bulger case was horrific (and complex) in so many ways.
Your morality (if you believe in the Bible) is horrific in so many more ways.
I have no wish to watch a 30 minute film that is made up of almost entirely of verbatim quotes from interview transcripts with Venables and Thompson.

I agree Parents should have been consulted.

However, I don't feel I have the right to say it can't be shown.

The Oscar nomination also makes me uncomfortable.

I shan't be signing.

My mate, john agrees with me. Must be true!
what these people are asking for is for it to be made law to consult the family if a film is baed on real-life events. I fail to ee how that law would have helped - would they have approved it if consulted? if not, it would have been made anyway. If it is as prudie says, the transcripts are a matter of fact.
it is not the sort of film i would want to see.
