On average, how long does it take for you to read a book from start to finish and how much time do you put in your day dedicated to reading?

about four to five days for a really thick one and as much as I possibly can!!

War and Peace I gave up after 3-4 chapters, bored silly. The Odessa File I read in one sitting - about 8 hours, most of a night. Otherwise if it is just of moderate length and interest but determined to finish it, about a week. I read at least 2 hours per day, and always have 2-3 books on the go at any one time.

About a week. I always read before I go to sleep, and if i get the chance of peace and quiet on a Saturday or Sunday, I like to get an hour's reading then.

It really depends on the book.

It took me three months to read 'The Da Vinci Code' because every sentence was like torture, but within a week of finishing it I'd also finished the 800 page 'To the Ends of the Earth' trilogy.

I don't plan time for reading - the book decides for me!

I read every spare minute I've got, when I'm not on AB lol
I have to read myself to sleep, have done this every night of my life since I was about 4.
An average length book usualy takes a couple of days, but like mfewell I'm usually reading 2 or 3 at the same time. Aren't books great?

I like to read in the same way as mycatis does but only manage a couple of hours a day if that when I'm working 9-5.

I did read Great Expectations in 3 days, Nostromo 3 days,, Da Vinci Code 2 days, Ulysses 2 weeks, LOTR 2 weeks. I think I've read 60-odd books this year.

Wild Swans is taking me weeks to get through but I'm enjoying it.

Depends on what i'm reading. Took me 7-8 months to read Moby Dick, but i've read my favourite sci-fi books in less than 2 days.
Depends on the book. If its a good book and not too thick, then I can't put it down and it will take me about three days. If I can't get into a book after the first few pages, then I usually have to give up
for a modern text of regular length, about 2-3 days (but then I'm quite a slow reader), and for a more meaty/classic text, I'd say about a week.

I read whenever I can. mostly will read in the bath or when feeding the baby and have even bought a glass table for the kitchen. I tell my kids it's rude to read at the table, and obviously, they have to put their book away when it's dinner time, but sometimes when I just need to go on, I put the book on the floor, take my socks off so that I can turn the pages and hold the book open with my foot! The kids didn't know I was 'reading at the table' until recently when I had to stop when i put the dinner on the table and saw all these books under it hehehehehe!

Sometimes the book really decides for me and I have had to go out for a drive through and get my eldest to read me the book while I drive...the food is because I've been too busy reading to do any cooking.

Is it bad for the kids??? Don't hink so; they are all avid readers now too!
I'm an avid reader. I'll read a good thick book in a couple of days, depending on its content - if I like, it a day; if I'm being 'forced' to read it, a couple of days until the interest bites and I finish it off; if the interest isn't there..............
