I can only find, 1879 - River Medway frozen solid for over two weeks.
I lived in chatham in 1963 and the Medway was frozen..not completely but enough for the Navy to keep Chatham dockyard open by using an icebreaker .I can remember watching the ice breakers on the Medway from the top of Fort Pitt Hill where I used to go to school.
shaneystar: You went to Fort Pitt. That is so cool, one of my best friends went there, I was so jealous. I wanted to go there too, but my folks sent me to Gillingham Tech (rainham mark).

Oh mimi ...Fort Pitt was a great school.....sorry to hijack here kaineandskye. Mind you it was many moons ago that
i was there ! Went to a school reunion last year which was great.I am still friends with two girls(ha ha) from school ..we have now been great friends for 45 years !
