watching the report, the children said oterhwise there is nothing else to do, one girl said otherwise id be on m iphone or pad? don't children play outdoors anymore, this is more like a creche for older children and costly, more importantly don't children play and visit friends houses or go to parks, climb tree's make go-karts play rounders anymore.

And that's a big worry. When I was at school I could not imagine having nothing to do apart from going to school. Quite the opposite, in fact, we often had difficulty fitting everything in.
It seems that children don't do any of the things you mention, fender. That is why many of them end up with "mental health problems" - often caused by boredom.

Redhelen72, it's not healthy to keep them locked up housebound, i imagine one would become fearful insular anti social out of fear, as a side tv adverts germs everywhere predators etc, i don't think today is any different to my day, except we now have multimedia espousing rubbish and parents falling for it, children need to socialise and not just in school, i used to paly in and and around rivers lakes, climb trees, build forts... play in mud.. what larks.

came home filthy..but we had bloody good fun, no internet no game consoles, blind mans bluff, chalking collecting cigarette cards swapping, fishing swimming...never enough time in a day, it's sad for todays children.
