Scottish Field
November issue: All are Scottish words, terms or slang and also could also be regional Scottish terms or variations only used in specific geographical areas. Due to difficulty and often many variations of spelling, some of my adjoining letters might be in error.
Last two (I think), because I've been there before and had to make several changes in past issues!
24a. Quantity of spirits (4) BE?D
8a. Father (4) D??D
No other letters to help I'm afraid due to grid layout. So far I've looked at DAUD as it's another word for DAD. Unfortunately the meaning appears nothing to do with a male parent. Dictionaries of the Scots Language:: SND :: dad v1 n2 adv (dsl.ac.uk)
Also DEYD appears to refer to grandfather rather than father.
Dictionaries of the Scots Language:: SND :: deyd n (dsl.ac.uk)
Any help appreciated
