Well thank-you everybody for all your very informative responses.
Id always been saddened by the life story of Sylvia Plath, but touched by the poems she has written.
Ironically I spent a lot of time as a child in the 80s wandering around Heptonstall graveyard writing poetry myself, and sketching the strangely tragic angel sculptures that adorn some of the headstones.
Yet I never knew Sylvia Plaths grave was there.
I spent my holidays with my auntie there, and her house overlooked the graveyard.
Its a rather lonely spot I feel, but has an eerie tranquil beauty which could also be said of much of Heptonstall itself too.
Such a gorgeous village I think.
I feel inspired to make a trip there, and maybe lay a flower on Sylvia Plaths grave.
My auntie now lies there too.
I was also unaware that Ted Hughes was from Mytholmroyd.
Thanks for the find a grave links Pickle.
and thanks again to you all for your info.
Id love to hear some of your Mothers memories Of Ted Hughes, Dot, how interesting !
