I see England, I see France
Last week I saw an old episode of Moonlighting. the name of the episode was I see England, I see France, I see Maddie's netherworld. It immediately struck me as probably being a paraphrase, so I searched for that phrase barring the netherworld-part, and got tons of hits. I gather it's a 'teasing rhyme' (if that be the term) and that the last part of it would normally be I see (name)'s underpants. But even that sounds like a paraphrase to me, as if the origin was oh I don't know - a Churchill speech or something... "I see England, I see France, united in ..." etcetera. (Just fantasizing.)
Does anyone know anything about the origin - or if the rhyme is the origin.
Thanks in advance and for now, more personal thanks sometime next week.

Don't 'spose you're still awake Vinny but you'll read this in the morning. No I've never seen the Northern Lights, they can hardly ever be seen south of the city of Kiruna, which is almost as far north as you get in this country. Stockholm this time of year is... not like it used to be, that's for sure. We've had some snow but it melts away quickly and I've hardly worn my knit cap or mittens at all.
Stockholm is always lovely, no matter what. (...but the music is horrible, just turn it off!) Neti and jno, do you recognize any of the sights from this clip? (Shaney you didn't live in Stockholm did you?)

Had a bit of a shock .My old friend has been given a year maximum . What I cannot understand is why she was informed of this by a receptionist at the hospital and not a doctor.I had a very tearful conversation with her yesterday .I just hope they have got it wrong .
Sorry to unload this on you you folks ..it's such a lovely day .... brilliant sunshine here .
No Kit I have never lived in Sveeeeden ...only Norway in Stavanger.
They're not new jno there are just more of them...at least 3 per medic I'd say & instead of being the 'I've been around a lot longer than you my dear' brigade it's the 'I'm young & have fabulous square nails & I know everything' crew. "Well if you got your hideous nails cut my dears there wouldn't be so many typos & medical appointment blunders...."
oh dear, I was off on one there for a moment...
...beautiful day but my back garden doesn't get much sun yet so it's very cold & wet...
Lol, funny picture of you and me Robinia, and wow (oh sorry) I really loved that video/song! Haven't heard it here yet but I'm sure we will. I'd like to post contemporary music too but I'm always thinking perhaps you're all dead tired of the songs I have in mind, as I don't know what the radio's playing where you live.
Remember the two talking cats I posted a while ago? Here's a follow-up, the second half of this clip reveals what they're actually saying

I have been to the Crematorium as it is a year today that my dear old Dad died My sister and I went to look at the Book of Rememberance. Thank goodness it was a lovely sunny day. Nothing worse than the Crem when it's raining.

Yes Kit I recognised some of that Stockholm clip, esp the tour boat, as I really enjoyed that. Most of Sweden speaks English except for a chemist opp the train station where I needed something for cystitis, and we had a merry old time trying to explain and demonstrate!!! Got something herbal and it made me feel really bad. Hey ho!
