The woods are lovely dark and deep?

Can someone please help by telling me what poem, and by whom, the following lines come from? 'The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep and miles to walk before I sleep.

This was one of the poems I studied and loved in school in the 70s. It was a text book and I think the title was Eplorations in English .....I would really like to re-read it but dont know where to start. Is there any site with this kind of stuff that was taught in English class in the 70s.?

Blue, there is certainly a book called 'Explorations in English', written by A J Tinkel and published by Cambridge University Press. However, the only date I can find for it is 1988, which might just mean that that was the last edition printed. In other words, it could still be the one you used in the 70s.

There are two possible approaches you might take:-

a. Ask at WH Smiths or Ottakars or whatever for further information about it

b. If you are a member of your Public Library, you can probably order it for a fee of 50p or so. That way, if it isn't what you wanted, it hasn't cost you much to find out and it will end up on the shelves for others to use...so nothing lost. Good luck.
