that was the ''2006 - we all get banned'' ...

didn't want to mention THAT name, for fear of a B.S. retort from them.
August 1st is Yorkshire Day, though I've never been entirely sure what it involves. Anyway this year the celebrations are centred on Penistone, so have fun if you're going.
Just been on the festival website. Penistone is described as the "Gateway to Barnsley", which might be ironic.
Atoach

Penistone is a lovely area of Yorkshire. I live about 20 minutes away. Barnsley, despite the connortations of flat caps and miners' lamps, is one of the most warm-hearted towns in the whole of the UK.
I know (my mother's from Barnsley). I still think that describing Penistone as the 'gateway to Barnsley ' must be a bit tongue-in-cheek.
Happy Yorkshire day to everybody! Even our Lancastrian foe!
Altogether now:

I being a resident of the West Riding of Yorkshire declare;
that Yorkshire is three Ridings and the City of York, with these Boundaries of 1124 years standing;
that the address of all places in these Ridings is Yorkshire;
that all persons born therein or resident therein and loyal to the Ridings are Yorkshire-men and women;
that any person or corporate body which deliberately ignores or denies the aforementioned shall forfeit all claim to Yorkshire status.
These declarations made this Yorkshire Day. God Save the Queen.

i was born at cragg vale in the borough of mytholmroyd, does that make me ok? lol
Atoach

Amen!
Dot - Cragg Vale - very nice, I know that pub down the lane by the bridge (Hinchcliffe Arms ?) - you are indeed entitled to recite the Yorkshire Declaration of Integrity.
we had Hinchcliffes in the family as i recall, married into the Lumbs I think. Or the Normantons.
