i was left a painting it is by Arthur J Elsely 'a tempting bait ' it is it is 40 x 48 and framed with his signature and dated 1906 and i think it is a canvas do you have any idea on the value

The correct spelling of this artist's name is Elsley so if your picture is signed as you have spelt it, it is a fake!
Having googled Elsley he seems to be known as a "chocolate box" artist. Very saccherine sweet paintings of children and animals. He died in 1952 & from what I can see his paintings fetch prices of �155,000 to �500,000
