This is Gen2 here standing in for Crofter who has just jetted off to Teneriffe for two weeks. Fortunately I found the keys to the shrubbery under a pot of geraniums. For a brief moment I considered keeping it locked as the neighbours have been complaining about all the shenanigans every Friday night. However, not wanting to be lynched, I relented - after all, it won't be me getting the ASBOs.

Tomorrow will bring the first day in the reign of Julia who has been dubbed the Crown Jools (The 'lucky' half of JimJools - or does she choose the best options first and leave Jim with the dregs?). This is the third queen in a row - shouldn't succession alternate between the male and female lines in the interests of equality of the sexes? Come on guys - show what you are made of.

Switch on, tune in and log on at 8:45 tomorrow for the start of the crown jewellery.

For anyone new to the Link games, now is a good time to start since tomorrow, being the start of the month, brings a fresh start to two brand new rounds of our Links games ~ The MM game (set by one of our own) and the KM game (based on the Kate Mepham GK crosswords in the Daily Telegraph). The first to kick off is KM at about 7.30-ish tomorrow morning. It is organised by seekeerz all the way from Oz. The idea is to try to predict the link words of Herculis (as many hits as possible and as early as possible).

This is followed at 9.00 by the MM Game (with an intro at 8:45), where the links are selected by Jools, who was last month's MM Champion (with a score for the month of August of NINE points)! Games close at appropriate times on Sunday and all entries are scored!

About 50 ABers enter each game each week and it's just a bit of harmless fun!
Newcomers are welcome!

Me? I'm Gen2 the stand-in scorer and record keeper for the September MM game!

Play fair (is there any other way?) & "HAPPY LINKING!"
Thanks for being the 'stand in' gen2. think it will be quiet in the shrubbery tonight anyway as quite a few are awol...I say quite a few!...the ringleaders Sarumite and evsajo!!
many thanks for unlocking the gate Gen2, we would all be standing outside shivering if not.
Not sure I can bring alcohol tonight due to the shingles, well i could bring it but probably not be allowed to drink it

so here is one cup of hot cocoa (not quite the same I know) but you can add a drop of baiys
ps

sorry
jan
Hi Jan...take it your still pain free...hopefully!!!

Think there will only be a few of us around tonight, but they usually pop in around 10...after the pub!!
yes fairly pain free, the swelling on my eye is going down,
good job I cannot go out as it looks as if I have been beaten up! With the scabs and a puffy eye, people would give steve some funny looks!
as you say V quiet tonight. Where is S?
We should set traps for the drunken louts when they come in! That is only sour grapes as not drinking tonight.

Pssssst...

I found this in the potting shed. I think it is where sarumite left his stash. You've got an hour and a half to find it if you think he'll be back by 10.

Jan, sarumite has gone to the dogs (sorry - 'Horses') for the evening.
not quite that bad ontice, thanks for the map gen2 now we know his plans we can keep him away from them. Was there nothing left of his stash for us to finish off?
Why do they do that to each other!!...ouch!

I am having to sit on this laptop (not literally!!!) while my daughters are glued to the Big Brother Final night!...gawd!!!!

They keep asking me who I think will win...am I boverred???
Hey Jan...any ideas what Jools has up her sleeve??
Pauline. When You get a moment I listened to the words really carefully and copied them down and then posted them. I think you'll see what I meant when I said 'very moving.'
Will take a peep Ont-ice!
Not sure which way Jools will go, the Diana thing?
September?
(it might as well rain until....) Carole King?
kids going back to school?
they are all things quite topical ( if she is going with topical)
can't we catch her and tie her up until she confesses?
we wouldn't tell the others ofcourse!
Hmm...maybe Jim might influence her!...then again maybe not!! Us women seem to rule on these links!! :-)

She's staying quiet tonight!!

Hey folks, Look what I found in the Rhododendrons . . a card with one of S's cryptic messages:

High danger round the river by the sound of it (9)
doesn't trust us in the shrubbery then. Do you think that map was hers put there to lead us to the links? or a double bluff to lead us away.
on a brighter note having shingles means I now only need 7 for the birds and Bs quiz, I had ground to a halt but now have time on my hands
A flying visit, just jumped on computer while son has gone to the loo (too much information - sorry!!!) He is completing home work that he has had the last six weeks to do!

Hubby is decorating this week - my carefully completed Birds and Bs quiz has gone awol, but hopefully it will turn up when we repatriate the furniture to the dining room!

I was thinking about running off another copy but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to remember half of the answers!

See you all in the morning x
OOOh gen2 a cryptic to solve...when I stop laughing.!....

Laura has just rung the local take away to place an order and ordered a roast d?ck dish...it should have been duck, but she said it wrong! She replaced the u with an i!! If this gets delivered after all the laughing I will be most surprised!!! Will let you know! She was joking with her Dad at the time...wonder if that had anything to do with it????
they are all the same with homework arn't they?
I'll do it tomorrow......
I looked up loads and typed up loads when mine were that age, luckily all finished now. The stuff dean needed for his AAT was WAY over my head so kept out the way.
Eldest son is an electrician so thats all finished too
