Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

But when JKR says �HBP [Half Blood Prince] is neither Harry nor Voldermort�, does it imply past self of Voldermort also i.e. Tom Riddle. If it is true then we got few other characters that might fit the role. I think that most probably it will be a new charcter- one that JKR may have introduced earlier but not given much of importance. In book six this person would turn out to be the HBP. This character could have been in CoS first draft but she might have dropped it for book six. That will explain why she wanted to name book two as HBP, but after dropping the character she called the second book as CoS. Likely possibility is Mark Evans. In OoTP he was 10 yrs. So if he has some magical power he will be starting his Hogwart�s education from next year when he will be eleven. He could be a possibility of being HBP. Also Lilly Potter�s maiden name was Lilly Evans. I think we might see this character in HBP.

Well i think its Draco Malfoy, When the film is out every body will be like :O draco every 1 in his family are pure blood you never know jk will put a big suprise in her book

JKR has said that the half blood prince is definately NOT Harry or Voldermot

ok, Im an extreme Harry Potter fan and when I found out what the title of the six book was, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I started making charts of all the half blood characters. So I have come to the conclusion that my best awnser would probably have to be Hagrid.Its probably Hagrid because he is half blood, and his mother,(a giantess) could have been the queen of the giants, and that would make Hagrid Prince.

but....the Mark Evans thing sounds Quite beliveable....but I dont no who would think it is Neville..i mean..his whole family were purebloods...and its defenatly not dumbledore, because he is Pureblood....as for the Colin Creevy thing..sounds good....but i guess JKR wants to keep us guessing!

seriously have you all been reading the news? she said that HPB was going to be the title for chamber of secrets... so wouldnt that mean the the HBP would be a character in the 2nd book... ( just a thought) my guess is hagrid- or ( possibly) tom riddle

I also think it could be someone new. I mean, we don't know that many half bloods. I Seamus is one, but besides him... JKR said it's not harry of voldemort. But she also said it's tied in w/ the chamber of secrets. Maybe it's another one of those voldemort/tom riddle things. Read the second book again, she said it's got a lot of clues.

just to add to my previous answer, the title might have a hidden meaning. It might not be refering to whether the person's parents are wizards of Muggles, although the rest of the titles were pretty straightforward.

ok...my friend and i have ruled out the following people: harry voldemort neville all girls but our top three choices for possibillities are 1. Hagrid - half giant 2. godric gryffindor-have importance in 2nd book androwling wanted COS to be HBP 3. salizar slytherin- same as #2 also two other very good answeres so far that i have read are oliver wood and mark evans...

Draco Malfoy can't be the Half-Blood prince. Like someone said, he's Neither can Neville. He's pure-blood, which is why all the students are so suprised that he's so terrible at magic. Remember the story about Neville's family being so worried that he'd be a Squib? His uncle was holding him up by the ankles and he bounced to safety. "Gran was so happy, she bought me my toad." Neville can't be the prince. I agree with the fact that it's Seamus or Mark Evans.

alright, so we have some good ideas... mark evans seems believeable, ..it would be neat to see tom riddle have a son before he turned totally crazy... also..everyone is so convinced malfoy is not the halfblood prince just because rowling says he is a pureblood... maybe his perfect pureblood mother has a secret... maybe she had an affair... i know this sounds harsh but.. also hagrid is a good candidate though it would be neat to see dumbledore as a halfblood as well. i dont think that the halfblood prince is going to be anyone already known to be halfblood...that is just not rowlings style, and why is he given the title of prince... he cant just be some regular joe... we must remember, rowling WAS going to name book 2 hp-hbp, but she didnt, this means whatever information or hints that were going to be revealed in the 2nd book werent. i never remember rowling stating that the hbp was introduced, or played a part in book two, so dont go looking for answers were u may not find them... i liked one persons idea of HP having a brother or twin... who lives, identidy covererd, with muggles, maybe the kind and queen? but if thats so... and harry does have a brother.. wouldnt this brother get a hogwarts letter when harry did... is it not required to go to hogwarts, even if you have wizard blood... is harrys brother at hogwarts?..... i dont know... everyones answers are so believeable... personally, im sure rowling will shock us all as usual, regardless of who the prince is..

Just out of couriosity why is everyone talking about Mark Evans. He was not in the second book but the fifth book. She said the clue is in the second book not the fifth one

I think that the half blood is Neville coz it says that it was a choice between Harry and Neville becoming Voldermort's enemy. I'm not sure bout the half blood thing though. Also can someone tell me where Mark Evans is mentioned please or I will have to read the book for the 5th time!

The half-blood prince is going to be someone probably from durmstrang or beaxbetons or dumbledores son that we don't know about yet because look how old he is he must have gotten married. It could also be a family member of harry's or someone in the book. Neville maybe

has anyone considered DEAN THOMAS?? on jks offical site she has a whole background made for him,, a bit unusual as he is such a small character at the moment dont u think?? Also people keep saying its malfoy which is impossible because when they are cleaning grimmauld place sirius shows them his family tree-- his PUREBLOOD family tree!!! also if anyone is unclear about who mark evans is look on pg 17 of the order of the phoneix!! a theory i liked was that the half blood prince might be a pure blood who is deeply admired by halfbloods or even mudbloods making him a halfbloods prince!!
