Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

She has basically told us where to look for the most crucial clues so besides telling us who the HBP is, we aren't going to get any better info. Just a quick question. I can't remember offhand, does anyone remember if the term "mudblood" is first mentioned in Book 2 or was it ever mentioned in Book 1? Just curious.
well i think someone else said it to but if they didn't here it goes...jkr was origionally going o name the second book "half blood prince" so therefore i was sure that it was voldemort but then again i could be wrong...there are alot of characters that we do not know theur ancestery like nevielle for example...they say he's pure blood but what if generations ago there was a muggle in the familythe same goes with anyone...maybe it was so far back that it does't show on sirius's family tree thing...but i stand by what i say ...i think it is voldemort...oh and btw they don't metion anyone my the name of mark evans on page 17 of the ootp his name shows up before that!!!
It's obvious isnt it? Why COS was going to be called the Half Blood prince origionally. Look at the key points of the book. The heirs of Griffindor and Slyhterin doing battle. The sword of Godric Griffindor, the diary of Tom Riddle. The title had to be refering to one of the two heirs. Godric's or Slytherin. Yes I know JK has stated that it's not Harry, although it wouldnt be unlike her to throw us of course, but I believe strongly that harry is Griffindor's heir, due to several facts. his parents lived in Godric's hollow, he's in Griffindor and he pulled the sword from the hat. If hary isnt the prince then it has to be riddle, salazar's heir. Chew on that a while!
Dudley...i have been pondering to myself about the beginning of the 5th book & is it not possible that aunt petunia is a witch also. Maybe not a powerful one but the Evans could well have turned out 2 witches in the family. She could have gone overlooked & undescovered... or jugding by her knoledge of the wizarding world she could have some sort of mysterious past hiden behind her [probably a secret or someone would have let it slip 2 Harry{sirius definatly wouldn't have kept his mouth shut} only known by few or somthing] i know a bit far fetched, but jk can make anything work. im pickin she went undescovered but thats just me.
Okay everyone. Look, lotz of you peeps seem to have forgotten the diffrence between half blood and half BREED. half blood is muggle and wizard(/witch)<--not in this case tho.) Half BREED is what Hagrid and Remus are. So obviously, your little theroys are wrong about hagrid. Sorry. I suggest you all look back into CoS cuz there are alot of hints in the book jkr said! Im guessing colin creevy, but i may be wrong. It's somebody introduced in the 2nd book is what i've learned. So, we also know its not harry or voldy or hagrid or any other halflings. OR any of the girls, obviously. But...We will never honestly know until HPB is out.
Allright, for all of you that don't know this yet the half blood prince is not Mark Evans. Actually, (as sad as I am to say it) Mark Evans isn't even going to be a major character in the books. According to JK Rowling on her website Mark Evans is a nobody, it's just a coincidence he has the same name as Lilly and Peutunia, and he was just a character she needed for a walk on role. -Sigh- I know.
But anyways... I have no idea who the half blood Prince could be. We obviously need to role out Harry and Voldemort(but not necessarily Tom Riddle)Because JK Rowling said so. We also need to role out the purebloods and girls. My gut feeling is Tom Riddle.(oh and to clarify someones comment, Tom Riddle was killed in the beggining of the 4th book, but that Tom Riddle was Voldermorts Father. Voldemorts father was a muggle and his mother was a witch. When his father found out he left his wife and went to live with his parents. Then when voldermorts mother died voldermort was put in the orphanage. It became one of voldermorts goals to kill his father, the muggle he was named after. Then once voldermort became older he went to the Riddle house and killed his father and grandparents-that's the scene we see in the beggining of the book). I've also though Seamus or Dean. But I can't wait till the book comes out to find it out.
