I have just read a brilliant crime novel by Laura Wilson ..
Stratton's War...set during ww2 .. lots of spies ,bodies and double agents . Bit of romance and a down to earth policeman who unravels naughty goings on in the war ministry !

Thanks everybody, can see a big bill coming next time I hit the bookshop
Bookshop?? What on earth for? Get to your local library! x
Question Author
Never thought of that, must dig out my library card x
Use it or lose it! x
Yes please support your local library ....I never buy books these days only reference stuff .Now we are retired they come lower on the list of prioritries .We have a really excellent library service here in Norfolk and I spend a lot of time on Fantastic Fiction wading through want I want to read and then reserve it on the library website for a modest fee..Most libraries now have a website where you can reserve books and make a wish list and they email when your books are ready for collection . Mr S .reckons I really get my moneys worth out of our council tax :)

I can't remember the last time I used our library. Used to go all the time when I first left home and when I was at school but just got out of the habit. Must go back. How long can you borrow for now, is it still 3 weeks?
Ours is three weeks tickled ...but with our service you can renew your books on line ..they only give three weeks on the latest ones ..you know the really bestsellers as there is usually a longish waiting list .I tend to look out for what is coming in and reserve it ..For example Lee Childs new book is not out until April but I already have it reserved .
I'm going to second Bathsheba's nomination too... It really is an excellent read.
Question Author
Just checked on the web site it is 3 weeks and I can have 20 items at once at home. Last time I went it was 6!
Yes it's all changed a lot ..we are allowed fifteen books now ..at one time it was only six .I would be lost without the library :)
Just to butt in- I'm halfway through watching dvd- Damage- and I'm loving it. Has anyone read the book? By Josephine Hart?x
