I have often given flowers to ballet dancers, male and female - the tradition is to leave them at the theatre stage door. Female dancers are usually presented with the bouquets on stage, but male dancers are rarely given the same accord, but flowers are left for them in their dressing rooms after the performance. This is one of those archaic traditions which has not succumbed to equal opportunities in this politically correct age - but is suited to the artform as most classical ballet is very much about the relationship of the male dancer supporting and showing off the female! The only way round it as suggested above is to throw flowers at the curtain calls, but alas this seems to have gone out of fashion - it used to be quite common to see several flower throws through the Covent Garden season (for special debuts or performances by cherished dancers) where both male and female dancers are showered alike!
However, see the You Tube clip - David Drew's retirement from The Royal Ballet - he is presented with a bottle of champagne, but no flowers - apart from those being thrown at him from the Slips!
