Gore Vidal has been having problems finding a US publisher for a series of essays, because they are a tad too anti-government for the uncritical political climate in America at present. They have been published in Italy as La Fine della Liberta and the material is due to be published in the UK in an expanded version of The Last Empire in spring 2002.
