drunk / diabeties
12 Answers
about an hour ago, i was fine, now i feel really lathargic and tierd and like im drunk! i havent touched any alcohol...this has happened before though...
but sometimes ive found its caused by my state of mind. in other words, ive got today off work, im bored, no one else in the house. nowhere to go, nothing to do. sometimes, its stupid i know, but bordem can bring this on. Its happened before. then unexpectadley my mate might ring or ask me if i wanna stay over the weekend or something, then without realising it, ill be fine. so how do i know the difference between potential diabeties, and something that could simply be psychosemaitc (if thats the right word)
but honestly...its like im struggling to stand and i feel really woozy. i dont eat alot anyways. but ive had a few coffees and a ham sarny. usually im fine with just that.
ideas anyone?

Well, I wouldn't say that he has NO symptoms of hyperglycaemia but it is unlikely that he is an undiagnosed diabetic. Sounds quite psychosomatic to me ?depression perhaps, but guessing is a futile game. You need to see yr GP for a complete clinical workup and if this does not give a clue, then the mental aspect needs assessing.
If you were on your way to diabetes you would have a raging thirst, which is the no.1 way to spot the disease. It seems to me that you are not eating an ideal diet (from what you said a couple of sarnies and coffee!) and your blood sugar level is not constant. Therefore, when you wind down (as in nothing to do except be bored) you can easily start to go into a rapid fatigue and fall asleep at the drop of a hat. The fact that a mate may call and invite you somewhere is sufficient to inspire you enough to get motivated, up and out.
Could be things like your blood sugar or blood pressure dropping.
I'm not diabetic but have generally low blood sugar and also low blood pressure, further drops in both of which can make me feel very woozy.
I tend to eat something sweet and see if that helps and just take things a bit easier until I feel better.
Get a general checkup with your GP or practice nurse in any event.
