What Samuel Beckett book is the name Belaqua used in?

Beckett's first novel that is so Joyecean it features snippets of 5 languages and renders the story line nearly incomprehensible due to its impressionistic style and incessant wordplay. I've just been reading about Samuel Becket on the net and I'm slighltly confused. Belacqua was a man, but wasn't Belaqua a woman?

I see that she appeared in More Pricks Than Kicks (1934; Picador eds.), but don't know if that is where she first appeared.
