Tanning of Kid Gloves
2 Answers
In Robert Rankin's 'The Witches of Chiswick' the teller of tall tales alleges that in Victorian times there were collectors of dog excrement, which was used in the tanning of kid gloves. Bearing in mind Rankin's style, I'd not be surprised if this were rubbish, but equally I wondered if anyone knew of a revlevant tradition or charter or something?
