Dressmaking courses

Id like to take a course in dressmaking from home. My interest is mainly in corsetry and vintage fashion but I think this may be rather specialised. I do have a basic knowledge of sewing, but none in pattern cutting etc. Would I be best off in taking a basic dressmaking course or jump right in with a more specialised course. If so, does anyone know of a course that may suit me!?!! Thanks in advance!
