You can buy spray or paint on varnishes for acrylic, oil or watercolour paintings. They're designed to go on very thinly and to hardly reflect any light, so the image can, for example, be lightly dusted. Do test it on something else, and then on the back of the canvas's frame if possible. If it goes wrong there's no going back. Washable might be harder to find although the varnish will be water resistant to a point. Ask at your nearest art shop if you can.
Possibly a picture-framing shop will know more? Good luck!
