Today in maths our teacher read out a problem, but then I had to go on an errand so I couldn't hear the answer. Can someone tell me the answer as I don't know how to work it out,

" the mean of 5 numbers is 10, I add another number. The mean is now 11. What number did I add? "

If you have 5 numbers, and the mean is 10, then the total of the numbers is 50.

If the mean of your 6 numbers is 11, then the total is now 66.

66 - 50 = 16
