I read the other day on IMDB that a film is to be made based on Patricia Cornwells Kay Scarpetta series. I always thought her books would make a good film. The big problem is that they have cast Angelina Jolie as Scarpetta. This is the complete opposite of how I imagined her to be. Do you think they got it wrong?
Marino isnt as old as Dennehy - Marino looks like Oliver Platt in my mind
jolie is Scarpetta? Wrong, totally wrong. someone older, as good looking with Italian looks? Mariska Hegarty would be a good candidate (Olivia Benson in Law and Order: SVU)
Unfortunately Hollywood casts people that they think will sell the film, not the actor that is best suited to the part.
Hollywood is run by the money men nowadays, not by guys that have any artistic ideas(sadly) as in the past.
There are probably many more suitable actressess to fill the part, but all the money men can see is bums on seats, regardless of how bad the chosen person will be.
This is why some eargerly awaited films of books fall flat, the casting just doesn't fit the character.
Whilst I think it is quite likely that they would like AJ in the film and that the rumoured casting is legit, it is possible for any IMDb member to submit information. Fans of one of the "Charmed" actresses managed to get her listed on the "Game of Thrones" pilot when (AFAIK) she wasn't even called for an audition.
