what are the canvasses like, ethandron?

Thanks for the tip-off.

they're as good as any you'd buy anywhere else, i've had a few of them.
Certainly will take a look and tip off my sis who does more paitning bthan I do. My work is usually by needle pens - old buildings like pubs etc etc and then into prints, card, postcards etc...the paper aint cheap with W&N at £20 for a block.
It's Lidl ethandron.

i like buying cheapo stuff sometimes so you can just splosh the paint around and not worry about wasting canvases. having said that, the last two i did as personal gifts for people were done on aldi canvases because of the shape.
love to see some of your stuff DT, any chance you could post it here? am becoming more and more interested in pen and ink work although i've not actually done any myself yet.
Question Author
it's aldi i've seen it on ...
I humbly beg your pardon ethandron, you're absolutely correct. In my defence though I offer this as a backup if Aldi's sold out.

no need to beg pardon, douglas, you're absolutely right, looks like the exact same product too. i never check lidl stuff as we don't have a lidl near us. maybe i ought to check them out on a regular basis though to see if it's worth a trip there.
If it's anything like our Aldi, they wil lhave just ONE of these easels in, to get you through the door. They hope that while you're there, you might as well buy something to eat later.
Question Author
our aldi's not a bit like that. when i bought the easel, there were about 6 of them. there's always lots of special offers available, at least for the first day or two. perhaps it depends on each individual aldi....
Actually, peeps, BOTH lidl and Aldi have art supplies on special from Thurs, 17th !!
Question Author
yep, i think we established that a few posts ago...
Just trying to be helpful....slow, but helpful!

Are you into Painting Outdoor scenes e.g Landscapes, Wildlife etc ethandron ?
Good Hobby, wish I had kept it going.
My Art teacher at School recommended I go to Art College but I chose the Merchant Navy instead.

no redman, i do abstracts. having said that, i've done a semi-abstract of a bearded tit, you might recognise it, and i would, but anyone who's not a birder probably wouldn't. also a couple of butterflies in a similar style, one butterfly on a large carvas.
why not go and buy yourself some paints and have a go, get into it again? that's what i did a couple of years ago. my sister died and i was looking for something which was just for me, which i could lose myself in and gave me pleasure. i'd always been interested in art and been pretty good at it so decided to have a bash. it really has been a god-send for me, along with birding.
go on, go and buy half a dozen acrylic paints and a couple of brushes and canvases and give it a whirl, with your arty background i'm sure you'd get a lot out of it :o)
Might do one day ethandron when I'm in the right frame of mind. Summer days to come, Birding and Painting at the same time would be a good way of passing the time on a Sunny day especially here in Anglesey.
you threw the paints out because of the 'odd' colours?

get yourself a guide on colour mixing..you can make pretty much any colours you like then amd not waste them
