Do you have a favourite artist, or piece of art........

I like some classical painters John Singer Sargent (sp)for one. But some of todays modern prints are really good. Justin Bua and Stephen Johnson are excellent imho except that this sort of art is likely to be displayed in a very modern setting. I'd love to have some of these prints.

I love Dali's work.
My favourites are the Metamophosis Of Narcissus, and Swans Reflecting Elephants, with Slumber as a close third.
The first, because it was the first time i saw a painting that i understood.
The second because a print of it was hanging on the wall above the bed in the room where i first slept with a woman.
The third because it makes a realisation of a concept, which is a feat in itself.

Van Gogh, Bosch, Turner, Gilbert and George are all favourites of mine plus a video instillation artist called Bill Viola. But my favourite painting, by another favourite artist, is this "Stanczyk, The Court Jester" by Jan Matejko

I like originals (don't we all).
As I'm not likely to be owning a Constable any time soon, I set my seghts a bit lower.
I've got some great oils and water colours that I've bought in Spain and Portugal, but mostly I like buying paintings from the guys in the arches, underneath the promenade. I've got loads of big, cheery, oil paintings ... all quite modern, and very jolly.
