‘Mummy, Mummy, why do we have such big flat feet?’ asked the baby camel.

Being an intelligent mother, she answered that they had wide feet to stop their feet sinking into the desert sand.

‘Why have we got such thick hides covered in fur?’ he asked.

Again his mother answered that they had a thick hide to protect them from the scorching desert sun and fur to keep them warm during the cold desert nights.

‘Why have we got such long eyelashes?’ he asked.

‘That’s to protect our eyes from sand, whipped up by the winds during a sandstorm’ answered his mother.

‘Why have we got a big hump on our backs?’ asked the baby camel.

‘That’s to store fat – giving us an energy store allowing us to undertake long desert journey’s’ replied his mother.

‘So Mum, what the f*ck are we doing in Bristol Zoo?’
