I have put on a colour on my hair as I have done for years and unfortunately it is too dark - could put a lighter one later on - or tomorrow

No. It wouldn't show. You'd have to strip the colour out first.

Just wash it a couple of times with normal shampoo then condition - it will lighten it

washing up liquid is supposed to speed up the removal process.. or is it permanent?

Leave it alone. It will lighten as time goes by. Then choose another colour next time. You could get some highlights put in.

thanks guys it was never as dark as this in its life - but do need a good cutting too - I am always blonde but have to say if I could get used to it - there is a nice healthy shine of it - what will the neighbours say.

the only way to lighten it is to put a much lighter colour in, say extra light ash blonde which will lighten it without bleaching it. after that condition it and leave the conditioner in your hair, wrap a plastic bag over your hair-tie it to the front of your forehead or behind your head abd leave for 20 mins-you will feel your hair getting warmer as the conditioner is working its way in, then rinse.

Yes but if I were you I would rather either wait a week or so or even put one without ammonia...if you want to go for the ammonia-free option then take it as blonde as you can so it will stick :)

got my hair cut yesterday and believe it or not the colour is really lovely - natural looking and shiny being that bit darker. Think I will keep this way. Also the cut is lovely too. Different hairdresser - just done what I asked her - some hairdressers literally leave me baldy but she left me hair. Everybody admired it at my voluntary job last night and I also felt good too.
