Bad Teeth In The Uk

Why? I'm on the net all the time and keep hearing from my US buddies that us brits have bad teeth. Every day I watch the Jeremy Kyle show and I'm horrified at how people who have access to great and free dentists allow their teeth to get in that state.

Don't they have any shame and their multiple partners kiss those?

I saw a program the other day about some nomad Africans who had nothing and their teeth were as white and clean fresh snow!

Dentistry on the NHS is not free. If you are on Benefits you get limited free treatment such as fillings, extractions and false teeth. It does not cover cosmetic dentistry such as teeth whitening. I find the dazzling natural teeth one sees in the USA a bit disconcerting but they seem to think anything other than brilliant white teeth are 'bad"

I dont watch Jeremy Kyle, but of the bits I have watched, generally speaking I would say that most have perfectly normal teeth, also I don't really think the the type of fool to go on such a programme can hardly be considered a typical representation of the British people.

To be fair- as Ratter has said, the JK show isn't a true representative of your average UK citizen. These guests all seem to have IQ's of house bricks, loose morals and even looser teeth but they are a small minority...i hope!

TheChair,I thought I was being unfair and comparing some jk folk compared to American celebs when I should have compared the rough with the rough in the US but tbh I've noticed that our Mp's etc. Also have horrible teeth and they have money and access to top dentists!

Good suits,apparently good intentions but bad teeth? I don't know about you but if I'm in the public eye and am going to be on tv,photographed and my images put all over the net then I would make sure my teeth were in check.

Umm,what amazes me is that many with teeth like his have people wrestling to keep them when many others would be wrestling to put a toothbrush in their hands each morning.

Boo, she was on yesterday and they fixed her teeth for her. She actually waited for someone else to help her instead of getting up off her backside to do it? She has time to sleep with her friend but no time to get to the dentist?

I suspect it may be to do with the lack of enthusiasm for bleached brilliant white treatments, and a natural tendency for our genes to produce slightly yellow colour teeth, on the whole.

Sorry ratter, I think I'm letting my personal views about her lifestyle derail the thread. Basically I'm saying that she should handle business before thinking about sex which has nothing to do with this thread at all thinking about it.

I'm still in awe at those African nomads teeth. Why were they so white? It can't be calcium or other minerals or vitamins as they were struggling to find clean water so god knows what they ate.

I would have though that Colgate or the other head honchos in the dental business would have done an investigation into this unless they have and am unaware of it.

African nomads do not drink red wine, black coffee or tea and have no access to refined sugar products. There is a clue somewhere in there as to why they have white teeth with no cavities -and of course teeth will always
"LOOK" whiter on a black skin. FWIW I've seem plenty of documentaries showing indigenous populations with little if any teeth!

Nah umm, I know many people with kids who don't give them all of that stuff yet their teeth aren't "Wow" like the African nomads.

They must have a secret or unknowingly are ingesting something which keeps their teeth clean and white.

I think it's in their genes to have lovely teeth. Yes they don't eat a high sugar diet I would imagine, but also I can't see that they have sonic or electric toothbrushes or floss daily.

Also, even the less white teeth will look much whiter against their black skin.

I think that if you eat a very natural diet as they mostly do, you wouldnt need to clean your teeth to keep them healthy, like others have said, no sugary sweets and drinks, their food is not loaded with sugar either.

Retrochic,I know many blacks as well as many other colours and in no way do I know anyone who has teeth like that. Many don't drink red wine or coffee too so that can't be it.

This reminds of garcinia cambogia and a few other products that indigenous people in the world were noted to take which were studied and found to have almost miraculous properties which was then harvested and sold to us. Maybe someone needs to study exactly what these people are doing or even not doing to have such great teeth.

Broseph. Do you realise how much all that work would have cost her? She couldn't afford it. I saw yesterday's programme too, and thought it was very sad that she was vilified on social media.

She was lucky that the Jeremy Kyle show paid for this treatment for her and I was glad that she could now lead a normal life.

We're talking thousands of pounds here, something which I certainly couldn't afford.
