Can anyone help me with this one? my nails always seem to grow quite nice but once they get past the tips of my fingers they either split or break off!
I've tried so many products that are supposed to strengthen your nails but as yet had no luck.
any ideas?
thanks x

When you file your nails try not to do it aggressively and try filing in the same direction i.e from left to right, then back to the left and to the right, and obviously at the same time keeping the shape.
I use a nail hardener polish by Sally Hansen, you can find it in Boots. Worked for me as I had very soft nails which were prone to splitting down the middle and all sorts.
A sensible answer Lore...Nails need moisture ..so handcream, hand cream and more hand cream.Soak them once a week in almond oil which you can get from Holland and Barrett. File in one direction only.I use Sally Hansen basecoat..then a coat of my favourite colour nail polish and then a coat of Sally Hansen Teflon Tuff.
A lot of faffing around but worth it for long strong nails.

Mine used to be like that. I went into a local precinct and there was a beauty stall selling Etre products for nails. www.etrenails.com. It consisted of a nail file a sand a polishing block, cuticle softner and hand lotion. She offered to use the product on one of my nails and it was amazing. The block helps to increase the blood flow to the nail.(or that's what she said). My nails are now smooth, shiny and hard. The web site is for american details, but if you see anyone selling it in your area, it's well worth a try. My nails have usually started to split into several layers by now.
One good thing to try is jelly - not to put on your nails, but to eat. A chunk a day of the block will help (can't remember why, but apparently it does).
The other thing is to try a herbal method, your local health shop should be able to advise you, or you can search online. I take one called Osteocare which contains calcium and magnesium, which helps to strengthen your bones also.

Try Mavala Scientific Nail Hardener at 10.99. It really does work. I have recommended it to many people over the years and the results have always been good. I even got my husband to use it as he kept splitting his nails doing lots of outdoor work. Look on the site Jasonshankey.co.uk for more details.
