As far as I know, there is no medical evidence to suggest that white hair is caused by stress, it is more likely to be genetics
Stress can effect how quickly your hair falls out. The more your hair falls out the quicker the cells hat produce the pigment in your hair burn out, making your hair greyer more quickly.
i have friends that started going grey at 21, 28 is probably quite normal.
I would agree with Chazza, my friend's mum went completely grey at 14 and my friend was totally grey by 18. I just think some people get grey hairs younger than others.
Oh and Goodsy - that answer wasnt there when I posted!
My sister was almost completely grey/white haired at age 16.I am 39 and have lots of grey hair yet my fiance who is 40 has virtually none. His father who is 72 has got a sprinkling of grey.It is all down to genetics.

thanx 4 all your answers, is there anything she can do to help it? its stressing her out n lowing her confidence big time. she cuts them as they apear but then ends up with spiky bits! any ideas or suggetions will b good. thanx.x
Unfortunately you cant stop it from happening, its called getting old!!
She can always dye it, there are some good home colours on the market or do what i do and have a few highlights put through and they blend in.
Its completely normal! My father turned snow white at 29 if its really bothering her just tell her to get highlights! If its only a few grey hairs its not a big deal really..... People get older and time takes a toll on the body. Or prouldy sport her new grey hairs! Chances are shes the only one who notices them. A friend of mine had grey hair springing up all over her head when I was in high school and recently I just found 2 grey hairs! She's not alone! :)
As has already been said - completely normal. I found my first grey hair at 18, my Aunt was white by the time she was 28. I have been told that it is Irish genes that make your hair go grey/white early. My Great-great-Grandfather was Irish, so maybe it's from there.

Btw my cousin (son of Aunt who was white at 28) is also completely white, yet his father still has black hair (not a lot - but what there is is black) at the age of 86! And no, he doesn't dye it. A couple of years ago he was in hospital for 4 months and he didn't get any 'roots'!
Tell your friend to say they are 'natural streaks'. People pay money to have them put in. It shuts people up who comment on going grey!
