Skin care products - is expensive always best?
I have always been quite good at giving my face a cleanse, tone and moisturise daily, however I really have no idea what products to buy. - usually I go for 'simple' or whats on offer! I have a friend who is a beauty therapist and will recommend expensive lines such as matis, dermaloglica etc but are these really any better than high st versions? The cost of these items are so expensive and I am on a bit of a budget. I am a little skeptical after watching programmes where they use 100 women to try 3 products, one is a placebo - think Gok Wan did age creams on his how to look good naked show recently....... Are there any skin care specialists out there that know the answer to this Q, are we just being ripped off with fancy names and packaging or are these posh products the best to buy?????!

Most of these products like Simple and the like say they are suitable for all skin types, obviously, this cannot be true. Dermalogica for instance, do "Skin Mapping", so the therapist can select individual items for your particular skin type.

I always used Loreal (the Jane Fonda ad) and someone told me about Aldi's face creams. I thought I would give them a try, after all I wouldn't be wasting too much money !!
Their Moisturing anti-wrinkle day cream is great - as is their Nourishing anti-wrinkle night cream BOTH WITH Q10 (whatever that is) It leaves my skin so soft and it just melts into the skin. I swear by it and I have told all my friends about it. At �1,89 give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I think any moisturiser, no matter how cheap, will make a difference to skin, particularly if it is quite dry or sun damaged.
If like me, you do not have any noticeable lines, but want to see improvement in texture and general appearance, then the basic bog standard products will make no difference, so for me personally, a better quality product does make a difference.

I think its just a case of finding what suits you!
Liz Earle cleanse hot polish is kinda not expensive and not that cheap and i live it, but then i use a �2.69 Nivea moisuriser which i SWEAR by!
I have you used a mosiuteriser...cant remember which one but it cost be �45 for a teeny little pot and it was AWFUL for my skin!
It also depends if you need something specific for your skin....wrinkles, oily, intense for dry skin etc....

It isnt what brand you buy that really matters, every product is different on different types of skin. You need to talk to your friend if she is a beauty therapist, she should be able to tell what ingredients to look for, and what ingredients to avoid. You could spoend �30 on a cleanser from dermilogica but if it isnt for your skin type it will do no good.

I can also recommend Liz Earle. My skin has never been so good since using her range of products. I would say it's in the mid-range pricewise and certainly a lot cheaper than Dermalogica. Check out www.lizearle.com. I'm sure they do 'try me' kits.

I think dermalogica is expensive. I researched quite a lot of beauty products as I was looking for a range which would suit my skin which is dry and also reduce my wrinkles! I was shocked to find out that in this country a manufacturer only has to put a sunscreen in their product to call it anti-ageing! I found an affordable range which is fantastic at www.pangea.ironyourwrinkles.com. They have a vast range of products for every skin type and problem. Their facial spa is amazing! You can watch a demonstration on that site too. I've used their products for reducing wrinkles alongside their 180 skin care range. Also their body gel tightens "flabby" upper arms and gets rid of broken veins if used with the spa. The products last for ages and are delivered straight to your door! I won't use anything else now.

Skin care products cannot be predicted based on its price, it is usually based on the contaminant that it has in the products. Usually, some top skin care companies uses private label manufacture to manufacture their product usually the cost of the manufacturing will be comparatively low, but when it reaches the brand name, the cost of the products becomes doubled on its original price. Therefore, buying products based on the ingredients is better when you prefer buying products based on its price.
