Things like wholewheat pasta, brown rice and oats will release energy slowly while anything containing refined carbs, such as white bread, white rice and anything sugary or containing glucose for instance, will release energy faster. A healthy diet should have more slow release carbs though to stop your blood sugar from spiking and then dropping low.
