red hair dye

hello! at the end of today i was going to dye my hair purple again, (was purple a while ago but now its a half faded black brown colour). BUT then i saw some red hair dye. i only dye semi perminant. does red hair dye fade to ginger??? or just a lighter shade of the red that isnt quite so ginger?

Depends what tone you start from. As yours is a dark tone it could take 2-3 red color applications to reach 'pillar-box' red. A quicker result can be obtained by tinting blonde then applying red on top.

Red can fade in 6w to your base (blonde) color and you either re-color (root growth inc) or apply a red mousse to maintain the color.
Most of the red dyes out at the moment have a more pinkish tone than orange, and when they fade it's the pink that tends to hang about - I've tried just about every one on the market cos I don't like the pink :)

well i went out in my lunch break and bought purple. propblem solved :)
