It seems to be the case that in recent times the over use of antibiotics and obsessive hygene rules have removed the conditions that keep the immune system strong this coupled with ever more resilient bacterea have got us into a sort of Biological arms race.
Vitamin C is good as is exersize but the main thing to stop this in the long run is to stop taking antibiotics, let your own system fight the infection. It will be hard at first but over time you'll find the colds are less frequent and clear up easily.
I never take any pills potions etc and on the rare occasions I get a cold I just ignore it and it goes away within a couple of days. If it's particularly stubborn I go down the Gym for a good hard workout and soon feel better.
