Contraceptive pill and changing it?
9 Answers
Hi
I have been on my contraceptive pill for nearly three months now its the first of anything like this i have ever tried and i know you have to wait for it to settle down and all that but i am on my last of three months trial on this one but am unsure whether with the side effects i have had to change it or carry on?
I have had two three week periods while on it, not even just spotting but full on periods, i am more easily grouchy at the smallest of things and i cry at nothing but will this settle down if i carry on with it, and hope it settles down, or shall i ask the doctor to change to something else and hope for better results?
Any advice is welcomed!
Thankyou!

I think the pill can effect people differently, I've been lucky with all the ones I've had before but I was on dianette from a young age (not for contraception) and although I don't have periods on the current one (28 day pill), dianette has always been my preferred brand.

http://www.theanswerb...l/Question888379.html <<< There you go, I asked that. I only got a couple of answers but I did experience some side effects initially. However, I've been on it for nearly a year now and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm fairly sure I once read that someone felt they had mood swings on it
What side effects are you having then?

Hmmm thanks china! I knew i would probably get a few side effects as i didn't think i would have found the perfect one first time round! I may talk to the doctor about it and have their opinion on whether its worth carrying on! With such sustained bleeding i don't want any other things popping up like anaemia or anything which i have heard as a result of over bleeding from contraceptives. Other than the gouchyness and crying now and again i seem to be side effects free.
I think my boobs have got bigger too but i count that as a benefit and not a side effect!

My periods didn't settle down after 6 months on Cerezette so I changed it. Tried Dianette which was pretty good but eventually stuck with Yasmin. There are so many to choose from that can affect people differently. 3 months seems a good length of time to try it out so I suggest you ask your GP for a different one.
