I too have exactly the same as you, and ANY trip, fall, strain or lifting will have a disasterous effect on the discs. All you can do is specific back exercises every day to strengthen your back and stomach muscles, so that it is stronger and won't give way at every hurdle. Lots of fellow back sufferers say they have to do their exercises every day to be pain-free. The best one that I like is lying on the floor, and pulling the small of your back into the ground, and holding it for 10 secs. Youc an also pull your lower stomach muscles in sat at a desk, and hold for 10 secs. Look online for others or ask your Doctor to refer you to the Physio.
