This question is for my sister. I told her you lot could answer everything so I'm hoping you will be able to answer this. She has dandruff very badly. It is very itchy and she is scratching all the time which sometimes makes her head sore. The hairdresser will not put anything extra on her hair because it irritates it. She uses a special shampoo and when she combs her hair or scratches her head she gets showers of dandruff falling on her shoulders. It is really bad. Does anyone know of a cure for it? She is desperate.
What's the special shampoo and was it prescribed by a GP? She may want to look into using natural or home-made shampoos in case it's the chemicals irritating her and causing it?
A friend of mine has very bad dandruff, her doctor prescribes some shampoo for her, anything bought over the counter just didn't work, maybe your sister should go along to see her doctor........
You cannot "cure" dandruff - but can control it. A dermatologist friend says the best shampoo for it is Oilatum Scalp Treatment Shampoo. Pricey but effective. (leave on for several minutes).
The shampoo was prescribed but does not seem to be curing it, except by making it come off in showers. Perhaps that's what it is supposed to do. Someone suggested to her that it was caused by stress. Is that possible? Quick reply raven and welshy. You are great without a doubt.
1. strong nettle tea soak the scalp and leave on for 15mins before rinsing
2. This is a hard one... don't wash the hair for at least three weeks only comb it through with a wide tooth comb once a day then start with something like the oilatum shampoo one wash no conditioner
