I went to the GP - at the first stages of a migraine I take 2 x Stemetil (procholorperizine, only on prescription) then take two Solpadeine Plus or similar. The stemetil helps with absorption or similar.
When it was available, I'd take Propain Plus....
Go see your GP, you don't have to put up with a week of pain.
Over-the-counter stuff doesn't work for mine. I have sumatriptan nasal sprays at home or I get a sumatriptan injection from my GP. You have my sympathies. I get them all the time. :( Definitely go to your GP. I hope it clears up for you soon
Like Vodka and Manjo, I also take Imigran (also known as Sumatriptan) which I get from my GP. That's the only thing that works for me. The migraine goes when I take the tablet but then it comes back once the tablet wears off so I have to pop a few over a course of 3-4 days. For some strange reason, my migraine always last 3-4 days!
You can now buy Imigram without prescription. You have to fill in a questionaire at the chemist but when you have done that they give you a little card to present whenever you buy them again, to save having to fill in the questionaire again. I am prescribed Zomigoro, which disolve on the tongue, but if I run out before I have requested a repeat prescription then Imigram works a treat as well - expensive though.
Taking Solpadeine Plus or co-codamol in any either guise for longer than a few days can actually cause rebound headaches.
It is not clear from your post if you have been taking them continually, but it may be something to bear in mind.
Thank you everyone - just taken one of the Nurofen tension/migraine tablets so fingers crossed - really getting me down now! Under a fair amount of stress and worry at the moment so that isn't helping and panicking its something sinister - I know its a copout but I hate going to the doctor.
Thanks boxtops. I thought they were migraines. They go on for several days. Some tablets I can't take with my thyroxine (I think Evening Primrose is one of them, unfortunately). I'll try some of the tablets suggested on this thread.
