getting rid of a mattress

An earlier question has prompted me to think about getting rid of my 10 year old mattress.

Thing is, I am mortally embarrassed about the condition of it. How am I ever gonna get rid of it. It wont fit in my car and even if it would I couldn't get it out at the tip in public. And for the same reason I could not pay anyone to take it away for me.

I guess I will just have to wrap it in something, although what?

And that would just look weird, right?

Get the council to come pick it up from you...they only charge about £15.

I feel the same about ours - dread the day himself says he has bought a new one and they will deliver it and take the old away.
Take it to the dump...

Announce loudly and often how bad tenants are and you'll never rent to students again...

Leave feeling smug (despite everyone knowing the truth)
Throw the mattress in someone's Skip.......By law every skip in England has to have one in it.....
Round here the council will collect it for nothing - you get a yearly allowance of a few large items. After that you have to pay.
bonfire?
Binbags and brown tape?xxx
Our council will collect for nothing too and I can assure you they will have seen worse. Haven't you seen the Grimebuter programmes?

If you feel ba,d make up some excuse about having to clear out the room of an elderly relative but do it!
That'll be for bodies, tinks!
When you get your new mattress use the wrapping from this to put your old one in. The polythene is usually thick and difficult to see in.Then get the council to collect it.
Pour beetroot juice all over it, then claim it was the original colour. Or any dark enough dye.
Or tip some old paint all over it and blame the decorator?
cover it with old emulsion paint... decorating accident...
Sneak it out in the middle of the night and dump in some fairly prominent place. Someone is sure to phone the council who will then come and take it away.
