Just a question I forgot to ask whe I saw my surgeon ths morning. I had the op yesterday (supposed to be a day job, but had to stay overnight). I have to wear these lovely stockings for a week. Is it ok to take them off at night?

I was told to wear the stockings for a week. When I had a knee replacement it was a different story, but it's a much longer op with a more serious risk of thrombosis. I'm told the risk increases with the length of the operation, so it's down to the treatment involved. I presume you had a longer op too. I'm reasonably active, having spent three hours digging in the garden today and I'm going out all day on a horse on Tuesday - with my surgeon's permission. I'm trusting that Squad's advice is good. Apart from anything else it's been very warm here, 30 C yesterday, and I don't think I could bear the things to stay on all night. Should have had it done when the weather was colder!
I had a knee arthroscopy 2 weeks ago and had to go to the practice nurse to have my 2 little stitches taken out. The nurse gave me the stockings when I was still whoozy from the morphine and I couldn't remember what she said! Lol! Anyway, I kept it on for a day or two but was up and about asap so didn't think it was worth it. Aren't the stockings more for when you're lying around and doing nothing?
