Been to the doctor today as ive had stomach pains and back pains, the doctor was shocked at the colour of my urine, she tested it and i have Keytones, protein and blood in it, been told i must drink 3 litres of fluid a day until next week then if the pains are still there im to go back, who actually does drink that amount, im finding it really difficult to do as i dont normally drink anything during the day only a cup of tea in the morning. x

boxtops = they? say you should not drink water when you clean your teeth, i can cause mine are in a glass
the blood is the worry, not the ketones (normally)!

sip all day and just do the best you can!
I would also add that if you have been used to drinking so little you probably will find it difficult at first.
3l per day is 1/4l each hour for 12 hours. I would approach it that way. Also I would not take cold drinks, try to get them at just below blood heat and see how that goes.

Thank you all. I was told by the doctor NOT to drink fruit juice only sqush made with water, ive drunk 1 glass so far and another one sitting on the unit looking at me, just the thought of drinking it makes me feel sick.
I drink one and a half litres of sparkling water a day, with PLJ in it.

PLG?
Question Author
Sorry PLJ?
lime juice

must say that's my fave that or with elderflower cordial
Would it help to use a drinking straw?
Pure Lemon Juice...............just tip a bit in to make the water interesting.
Question Author
Thinking of it that way Howard dosn`t seem such a huge step, ive drunk the 2nd glass now, well nearly. x
PLJ is pure lemon juice. Tamirra if you are so put off by the drink that you are looking at rather than drinking, why dont you find something you do like. I make myself a drink in a juicer which is a carrot an apple and a bit of ginger. Tastes lovely. You have had so many suggestions of hot and cold drinks and fruits etc that there must be something that tempts you. Tea is just as good for getting the liquid into you and you told us you do drink it.

I will go to the shop and buy a bottle, im drinking flavoured water at the moment i couldn`t stomach just plain water, the dehydration is prob the reason im always so so tired all the time and my memory is so poor.
The advice given to the SAS is that if they don't continually feel that they could do a little pee then they aren't drinking enough.

Thank you for the link craft, i now know what to look for. x
3 litres a day is a hell of a lot of fluid.

First question that I would ask your doctor is "Can my "damaged kidneys" cope with 3 litres of fluid per day?

Now i assume, that your BP was taken and that blood investigations have been started.
Tamirra be very careful what you buy in terms of flavoured water, loads of sugar in them. Buy plain water and put something in it to flavout it, Robinsons no sugar added squash is pretty good

ps I'll get through about 2.5 to 3l per day up to 5 if i'm out cycling

No Sqad nothing else was done, just dipped my urine and told me what she found and was told to drink the fluids every day until next week, do you think ive done damage then, ive been like this for years Sqad. So ive done wrong by buying flavoured water? Oh dear!
you should drink at leaast two litres of water a day, this means water and not tea or coffee etc., all the other beverages are okay as long as you drink two ltrs of water . Water flushes out your system other products do not. Try drinking water in half pint glasses at a time, this way it does not put you off as if you had it in pints at a time. You will find that if you do this, it is easy to drink two or 3 ltrs of water plus tea or coffee throughout the day. Also it is helpful to take a half pint of water to bed with you so that you can drink or sip it if you should wake up. Filtered water is more enjoyable than straight from the tap, a dash of lemon juice can also be added. Also first thing in a morning it is a good idea to boil some water and add a dash of lemon juice to it this helps to clear out the system. end of lecture :)
