Thyroid results

I`ve received the results of my thyroid test:-
"Serum TSH Level" 4.58mu/L (0.27 - 4.2) "High"

Not significantly raised, euthyroid

I presume the bracketed nos are the normal range?

237 yes, bracketed number is the normal range.As previously discussed, there is quite a body of informed opinion that thinks the upper normal value should be closer to 3.0

Euthyroid means normal thyroid function.

I still think it might be worth trying to get a fT3 and a fT4 analysis, although Sqad may have a different opinion.

Those are normal results.

OK...ask for T3.......but what will you do if it is low? Le't jump that hurdle if an when we know.

There has been, and still is, the urge to investigate someone who has symptoms and when an abnormal result surfaces, to assume that the abnormality is the cause of the symptoms.

So do I but my problem is my GP practice just won`t do them so I`ll have to lump it. I`ve given up now. Thanks for the input.

I think they are cutting back by not doing them now (apparently) as a family member was told that by her consultant...

daisya........i don't think that "cutbacks" has anything to do with it, more if one doesn't know what to do with an investigation should it be abnormal, then what is the point in doing it?

Sqad, only reporting what I was told by the family member who was told by her Endo...that's all I'm saying! NHS cutbacks include such a lot, even down to taking ferritin level blood tests once every 90 even when required sooner by consultants...sigh. This is the UK we are talking about <wistful sigh> lol.
