Never had it before, so really don't know. The past couple of days when emptying my bladder it feels as though I am passing razor blades. So can anyone tell me if this is cystitis as I have been told that its more of a burning sensation, this that I am getting is really painful, so if it is cystitis, what please would you recommend that I do? Thank you.
It is quite a stinging pain and of course every one is different - my abiding memory is that you feel as though you need to 'go' all the time while you've got it - drink plenty Hope you feel better soon it's not pleasant
It can track up to your kidneys and make you quite ill, so if it isn't clearing, i would pop to the docs....the advice is to avoid sex too, apologies if that's not relevant.
cranberry juice is a myth.....water is required to flush things out. see your gp asap to get a diagnosis - then decide if the prescription is worth paying for. make an emergency appointment in the morning x
Thanks all, yes it feels as though I need to go all the time, can't get in to see the doctor until next Tuesday, I will pop to the chemist tomorrow, in the meantime I will start on the cranberry juice.
by next tuesday, if it hasn't cleared up, the infection could have spread, as i said, do they have any kind of nurse appointments, phone advice, walk in centre or any other way of getting seen sooner?
I will try ringing tomorrow afternoon, see if they can fit me in with the nurse, hopefully when I tell them what's happening they might let me go and sit and wait.
I used to be plagued by cystitis when I was a child. I`ve only had it a couple of times as an adult but all that cranberry juice/capsules was a complete waste of time. You need antibiotics and sooner rather than later IMO
Cranberry juice is a preventative not a cure.
I used to get cystitis on a regular basis, leading eventually to pyelonephritis. This damaged my kidney and the pain was excruciating. Since drinking a small glass of cranberry juice every day, I have not had cystitis for years. Apparently it puts a lining on your bladder which the germs cannot stick to, so they get flushed away when you pass water.
