Steam might help. You can buy a steam inhaler cup from most chemists.

This is the sort of thing you should be looking for.
Mix together honey, apple cider vinegar, cayenne and garlic. It helps a bit.
No......nothing much will help.......it will go in time.

We swear by Buttercup Syrup for a cough, tastes foul but it works for us.

I've often wondered why a cough seems to be worse at night

I have never bothered with over the counter cough 'medicines'. Years ago, when my kids were small, I remember our GP telling me not to waste my money on them! So I don't!! Sounds like I will just have to sit it out then!
I have always relied on a fresh lemon (sliced) covered in water, 3 spoons of sugar and boiled for about 10/15 mins. My kids now do it for their kids etc etc. Never failed. Sipped hot it seems to stop everything in iits tracks, and if its too strong just add extra water.
When in doubt see your GP.
Women moan about Man Flu but listen to you lot...Bird Flu!
Pholcodine linctus. Costs between £1 and £2 from boots or any pharmacy.
Its a cough suppressant and works on the part of the brain responsible for the cough reflex. Recommended to me by my niece who is a GP. It works.
