Six months ago, my husband had a stroke during an operation to remove a dermoid cyst from his brain. He still seems to need a lot of sleep, dosing off in the morning and afternoon for at least an hour maybe more. Is this to be expected still. He has been left with speech and mobility problems and has only just been discharged from hospital. Has anyone experience of this?
Difficult question to answer as it depends upon the type of dermoid cyst and the area of the brain from which it was remove..........also, if the cyst was completely removed.
I would have thought that "dosing off" six months after neurosurgery would be quite normal, but if this " doziness" increases in length then further investigation may be needed.......MRI scan.
I assume that all his blood analysis on discharge from hospital were normal.
Sqad, the lesion was in the left fronto-temporal region, and I don't think it was all removed. I don't know what type of dermoid cyst it was only that it was benign. AS far as I am aware his bloods were ok. I don't think there is any increase in sleepiness. Thanks Sqad.
he has been through a lot .it is the bodies way of dealing with trauma lots of sleep...take care ..you must be well to look after him so your health is important too !!
