Refractive Surgery
6 Answers
I met a friend a few weeks ago who was about to have refractive surgery at a Bristol Clinic ( Optimax). It will cost her about £5-6,000. I used to work for a Consultant Ophthalmologist so I went along to talk to him. He says a percentage of patients need low grade reading glasses afterwards. The reason I am thinking of having this done is because I hate wearing glasses and fed up of juggling two pairs of specs ( distance and reading). Has anyone else had this (not laser surgery but full lens replacement. Thanks

It is as a result of a botched sinus op 40 years ago. I also have an early cataract and the refractive surgery is the same procedure as a cataract op. This one off surgery will mean I will not have to have cataract in the future. I made the decision today to have it done and it turns out my ex boss is the only one licences in this area to do this. Better still he won't charge me his fee which brings the cost down.
