It's not worth taking any risks with such a young child. If you're in an NHS '111'area, call that number for expert advice. (See here to see which areas are currently covered: http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/AboutNHSservices/Emergencyandurgentcareservices/Pages/NHS-111.aspx ).

Otherwise NHS Direct can help you (0845 46 47).
If doctor was less than helpful and 111 has collapsed why should NHS Direct be of help?
If you can get to a late opening pharmacy , you will be able to buy rehydrating sachets to mix up and give to her.
It is disappointing that the Dr did not either prescribe them or at the very least tell you where to buy them.
Good luck.

we rang 111 and they said they whould get a out of hours doctor to come round the house then 1 and half hours later we get a phone call saying we have to take her to hospital which is 20 miles away and this was at 6 o clock at night.i couldnt believe this but of course i took her as she just is lifeless and when get there the doc told us she had noro virus and to just let it run itsourse and that was it..I said why have i had to bring her to a hospital this time of night surely a doctor could of come round the house to tell us this and his words where its because of taxes and thats that. But anyways i guess i could ring 111 again and see if they think to give her this will be ok.
I assume from your post that the diarrhea and vomiting has now ceased and in which case, the fluid solution is very similar to diarolyte that you can get from the chemist and small sips would be fine.

if the Dr was not worried and you are "scared that she is a little dehydrated" I shouldn't worry too much.

Just watch over the next 24 hours that she doesn't become listless and irritable and she is still producing wet nappies.
if she wont take fluids Will she suck an ice lolly or maybe some jelly, anything with a very high moisture content. Ensure that GP is kept aware of her condition if she deteriorates in any way.
When my son was admitted to hospital with dehydration (aged two) I had to give him tiny, tiny amounts of water using a syringe (maybe you could use one of those medicine dispenser things), but he was also on a drip.
The aspiring to be caring NHS.
If the hospital doctor said the child was a little dehydrated and offered no advice to counteract this, he/she should be reprimanded.
would she take an iced lolly?

perhaps make this mixture and freeze it, but add a bit of cordial to make it taste nicer

perhap she just doesn't like the taste.

she has only had 2 wet nappies all day today. she has not been sick today but has bit of diorea but not much.shes just been asleep basically all day just wakeing for maybe 10 mins at a time to see we there and back to sleep. She is crying at the min but maybe that could be because she has slept all day..I was worried because of not many wet nappies. Thanks for all your replies ive been told more then i was from the docs so i feel bit better will keep my eye on her and if any worse will ring 111...will try the ice lolly and syringe with water. pitty she cant drink calpol as she will gladly take that she opened her mouth before i even had the cap off lol.i just give her 1 tea spoon of that twice a day. Thanks again all i really do apreciate it very much..
You need to go into your local pharmacy, and ask for Dioralyte or similar that will be safe for a child of that age. Do not use any medication that is not recommended by the pharmacist!

well we thought she seemed a bit better today as when she woke she was really hungry for her bottle, she took 90ml then 10mins later brought it back up, she hasdnt brought anymore up by 4pm, this is when we took her to docs again and saw the nurse, she said its ok to give her some yoghurt or custards... so when we got back she was excited a little to see the yogurt, was only a small tiny pot but within minutes she was bringing it back up,,,, how long does this usually go on for?...ive never been covered in so much sick in all my life lol
I don`t know where I heard it but I have always been under the impression that dairy products aren`t good when you have had a bad stomach. I am not an expert but if it was me, I would try her with a tiny, tiny bit of mashed banana and see how she goes. When you are dehydrated, the body`s electolyte balance is disturbed and potassium is needed to keep the balance in kilter. There is potassium in bananas (and a tiny bit of sodium which is also needed). You could try her with a bit of previously boiled water with some sugar dissolved in it.
