Can A Blackbird Ever Be Mistaken For A Thrush?

I have a bird feeding from my table feeder at the moment (from a suet slab)that looks like a thrush but the breast is less distinctively speckled than the normal thrush. I wonder if it could be a female blackbird with a slightly speckled chest. Otherwise could it be a thrush with a less than "thrush like" breast speckling?

Blackbirds are members of the Thrush family. Females and especially young blackbirds can show lightly spotted breasts

Thrushes usually have paler breasts- but know a lot more tunes. Get it to sing for you.

It could be a female or a juvenile male.

I took some pictures the other year of what I thought was a Blackbird feeding a Thrush, turned out it was a young Blackbird.

So, yes, a Blackbird can be mistaken for a Thrush.

If in doubt then endeavour to look carefully at the bird's legs. The blackbirds are somewhat darker than those of a thrush.:-
