Eating it twice a week is said to ward of various ills. But how much, a clove, a bulb or more?

I'd want to read the actual studies before I started necking raw garlic.
Why would you eat it raw when there are plenty of garlic soup recipes available on line ?
LOL.......where do they get the "volunteers" from these "medical studies?"..............do you believe them?

I have NEVER met anyone who ate raw garlic at all, particularly twice weekly.

Never judge a book..............
Have a look here for info on the natural benefits of garlic.

" Eating it twice a week is said to ward of various ills. But how much, a clove, a bulb or more? "

And some say the earth is 6,000 years old too!
There are a number of studies that suggest that garlic is beneficial for health, including:

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jsfa.5557/abstract

And there is rather more work in the field than just that. From the looks of things, you needn't worry too much about what form the garlic is in when you ingest it. The first study above talks of "aged garlic extract", for example. For that reason I'd suggest including a small amount of garlic in recipes whenever reasonable, but not necessarily eating it raw or in large quantities.
(sandy), are we not sailing perilously close to voodoo medicine here.....

Surely garlic would ward off the undead Caribbean Zombie as efficiently as it does the Mid-European Vampire.
Eating so much raw would probably deter lots of ordinary decent people too.
Sqad, in the olden days when I did a face to face anti coag clinic, one of our old men ate at least a clove a day and 'imbibed' at least another!
He was convinced it helped him - we were not!
Question Author
Did it do him any harm, apart from terrible halitosis?
No it did not do do him any harm, INR was always ok. Was it the garlic or the warfarin?

I regularly eat raw garlic, at least twice a week (because I like it, but it has not had any effect that I am aware of). Breath aroma can easily be combatted.
I think adding garlic to your stews and any dishes is good for you, this is all part of the medeteranian diet many feel is good for us. Apparently it's good for the heart.... however, raw garlic hasn't been associated with better health... at least not to my knowledge.
