Mirena Coil Anyone?

I had one years ago which was brilliant but I had one fitted about 6 months ago and it has been a nightmare! I'm 39 and was having some night sweats before I had the coil fitted - doctor put them down to stress (despite my telling him I didn't feel stressed about anything). He also said that having the coil would probably help with the problem and so I went ahead with it. The night sweats are probably about the same as pre-coil, but I'm almost permanently on my period (I'd say easily 2 weeks out of every 4 if not more), my hair has started falling out (not great clumps of it, but certainly lots of hair in the bath when I get out), sex drive gone, my skin has gone spotty in some parts and dry in others, and now I'm developing mood swings and am tearful at the drop of a hat. Please tell me this is the coil and not menopause - but please tell me there's light at the end of the tunnel. I'm phoning GP for an appointment tomorrow but probably won't be seen for 3 weeks so I'd appreciate any advice or shared experiences in the meantime. Thank you x

Well.............I don't know what your symptoms are due to, BUT before I started attributing them to any sex hormonal imbalance! I would ask my GP if he would check my thyroid hormones., to exclude an underactive thyroid.
Its not or very unlikely the menopause..i had it implanted, all what you describe - a very round/fat face also appeared overnight...cause after colonoscopy and endoscopy tests; mirena coil. Unfortunately me (and you by sound of it) one of the 3% of women who suffer with it in this manner.... Best thing i did was come off it. Was only on it for 8 mths...i was miserable as sin!! Good luck x
It doesn't suit everyone - see your GP as soon as you can.
